Our Team
-

Jen Oyler Yaniv | Principal Investigator
A biologist from the womb (once brought a preserved pig home from school… seriously). Obsessed with the immune system and the clever ways pathogens thwart its defenses.
-

Alon Oyler-Yaniv | Principal Investigator
Physicist turned quantitative biologist. Likes microscopes, complex biological systems, and simple physical laws.
-

Max Brambach | Postdoc
Max is our light sheet expert with a background in Physics and a PhD from the University of Zürich focused on whole embryo imaging. He’s interested in how the tissue spatial organization of immune cells arises and impacts pathogen responses.
-

Sanne Boersma | Postdoc
Sanne comes to us from the Hubrecht Institute in the Netherlands and has a background in single molecule imaging of actively translating mRNAs from both virus and host. Sanne’s eager to take her expertise with live cell imaging of host-virus interactions to the whole tissue level.
-

Emily Yi Chia Liu | PhD Student
Emily is a graduate of UC San Diego and PhD student from the Harvard Immunology Program. Emily is focused on the molecular, biophysical, and spatial factors that govern development of cytokine niches within the lymphoid organs.
-

Grace Pierson | Research Assistant
Grace is a recent graduate of Providence College with a dual major in Math and Biology. She is working to advance several lab projects focused on the spatio-temporal dynamics of cytokine spread in both the eye and secondary lymphoid organs.
-

Tessel van Schaaik | Undergrad Intern
Tessel is a rising third year at Tufts University studying Biology, returning to us for her second summer. Her project focuses on optimizing a whole tissue clearing and staining protocol for intact lymph node imaging.
-

Karla Flores | Lab Manager
Karla has been working at HMS since 2018 starting off as an animal technician and then transitioning to lab manager for Systems Biology. She loves being involved in all the different ways to make science happen.
-

Ollie Liu
Professional box-sitter and co-napper.
-

Donut & Munchkin Oyler-Yaniv
Emotional support frogs.
-

Blue Oyler-Yaniv
Leads investigation of the Hygiene Hypothesis
